WATCH | Rohit Sharma’s witty stump mic moment at Mahmadullah goes viral on internet

Cricketers aren't just entertainers with the bat or ball; their on-field antics can amuse everyone as well. Similarly, Rohit Sharma’s raw emotions were caught in a stump mic special where the Indian captain was taking a playful jibe at Mahmadullah as India squared off against Bangladesh in Antigua.

Winning the toss, and electing to field first did not pan out well for the Bangladesh side as the Indian top and middle order set up the tone for a Hardik Pandya half-century, leading up to a 196-run first innings total. In reply, Bangladesh failed to capitalize on a decent start, with Kuldeep Yadav breaking their backbone during the middle overs phase. Although India ended up winning the game eventually by 50 runs, the stump mic caught a ‘Rohit Sharma special’ that left the audience in splits.

After dismissing Shakib Al Hasan in the 14th over with a leg break, Mahmadullah Riyad entered the fray to stabilize the ship and accompany Najmul Hossain Shanto. The Bangladeshi batters were periodically attempting sweeps against the spinners in the innings and the stump mic caught Rohit expressing his views to Kuldeep in the local language.

The mic caught the Indian captain stating: ‘Kya kar raha hai yaar, aada marne de na. Abhi abhi aaya hai ye, ek abhi gaya aada maar ke, isko bhi maarne de na’ What are you doing? Let him sweep. (One just got out while sweeping; let him sweep too.). Rohit has always captivated the audience whenever his raw emotions were caught on stump mic and this one left the Twitterverse in splits.
