The Lucknow Super Giants posted a respectable total of 161/7 in their allotted 20 overs, boosted by Nicholas Pooran's contribution of 45 runs from 32 deliveries. Mitchell Starc, who had been struggling with form, regained his rhythm by taking three wickets while conceding 28 runs. In the second innings, Kolkata's opening pair Phil Salt and Sunil Narine took the field with KL Rahul entrusting the first over to Shamar Joseph. However, the 24-year-old pacer faced a rough start as his first over was costly.
Joseph began decently by giving away just eight runs. But as he completed the over, the no-ball signal sounded indicating that he had overstepped on the last delivery. Coming back to bowl the extra ball, he unfortunately delivered a wide. This was followed by two more wides, one of which raced to the boundary. In the midst of this, he bowled another no-ball resulting in 14 runs being conceded already with Salt was ready to exploit the free hit. Eventually, Joseph delivered a legal ball which Salt dispatched for a six marking a disastrous debut for the West Indian. However, amidst the disappointment, KL Rahul was seen comforting Joseph and offering words of encouragement as he placed a reassuring hand on his back.

All out attack bowler. A point that I have made before about him. He needs to learn the defensive skills needed for t20 cricket.
Need time
Shamar Joseph Needs more time in terms of the spell considering played more first class . Need defensive skills and probably variations in limited overs that would gradually come in 1-2 yrs by playing cpl consistently. Hope they leave him alone and not include him in WC Squad
