Cricket is a game that can offer moments of brilliance and utter confusion leading to poor display of performance. Such was the scene in the contest between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans wherein there was a display of poor fielding by Gujarat fielders gifting Rajasthan extra runs.

After a delayed toss due to rain at Jaipur, Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to field first. The decision to bowl worked well for the visitors as they managed to dismiss Rajasthan opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in the fifth over. The woe persisted for Rajasthan as they lost Buttler in the sixth. With Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag on the crease, the home side reached 43/2 at the end of the powerplay. As Gujarat bowlers were looking for another wicket, there came a moment when Gujarat fielders were subjected to some terrible fielding leading to extra runs for the home side.

On the final delivery of the ninth over, Noor Ahmad delivered a length ball to Samson who attempted to defend it. However, a thick outside edge of the bat sent the ball racing towards the backward point fielder. Meanwhile, Sai Sudharsan who was stationed there, threw the white rock to the bowler's end but the 19-year-old Afghan spinner failed to gather it. Mohit Sharma, rushing in from mid-off attempted to intercept but fumbled allowing the ball to escape to the boundary line. This unfortunate sequence resulted in five runs for Rajasthan Royals, much to the dismay of the Gujarat contingent, who displayed a lacklustre performance in the field.

The incident quickly gained traction on Twitter, with users expressing their dismay over Gujarat's subpar fielding performance.
