With a great tournament comes incredible effort from the participants. Axar Patel’s marvellous reflexive catch to outsmart Ishan Kishan raised the bar of the Indian Premier League as Mumbai Indians squared off against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday’s afternoon clash.

Winning the toss, Delhi Capitals chose to field first under dry conditions of Wankhede. The surface favored the Mumbai Indians openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan as they piled up 75 runs inside the powerplay. However, Axar Patel struck immediately after the field was scattered by dismissing Rohit Sharma for 49. Twenty balls later, the left-arm orthodox spinner self-rewarded with an outrageous take that left Ishan Kishan stunned.

On the second ball of the eleventh over, Axar sprayed a short ball outside the off stump that Ishan Kishan chipped back towards the left of the bowler. The Gujarat-bred shuffled to his left and plucked the white rock with his left hand, managing to hold his poise without spilling the ball. As a bowler, it is not easy to grab the ricocheting ball but Axar’s quick reflex left the batter in disbelief and hence drew praises from the Twitterverse

What a catch!
