If Virat Kohli returns to his old form, he'll deliver a triple-hundred, asserts Kapil Dev

Kapil Dev has dispelled all the talks regarding Virat Kohli’s recent form, and stated that the right-hander could deliver with a triple-hundred, once he's back to his fluent best. The former World Cup winning captain also stated that captaincy had nothing to do with Kohli's recent batting returns.

Virat Kohli coudn't quite replicate his batting heroics from the 2018 England tour in the recent series, and had endured identical modes of dismissals for a major part. In four Tests, Kohli could manage mere 218 runs at an average of 31.14, with two fifties.

His wait for an international century continues, with the last coming during the pink-ball Test against Bangladesh in November 2019.

However, Kapil Dev feels that there's not much to worry about the 32-year-old's form, and that he's capable to score a triple-hundred on his day.

"The graph has surely gone up and down but for how long? Age 28 to 32 is the time when you really blossom. He is now experienced and mature. If he returns to his old form, Virat will not only score a century or double ton; he will give you 300. He is so much mature now and there is no shortage of fitness when it comes to Kohli. He just needs to identify himself and look to score big,"  Kapil said on 'Uncut'.

Kapil further remarked that the recent dip in form had nothing to do with captaincy. As a captain, Kohli has 20 centuries from 65 Tests and 21 from 95 ODIs. Kapil Dev asserted that Kohli’s captaincy has nothing to do with his current form in international cricket.

"For all these years, when he was scoring runs, no one said anything about captaincy affecting Virat's batting and now suddenly, there are opinions when there's been a little up and down in his graph." Kapil said.

"When he scored those double centuries and so many hundreds, wasn't there pressure then? It means that his captaincy should not be the focus. Instead, look at his ability."
