Dinesh karthik pens apology letter to BCCI on being spotted in TKR’s dressing room

Dinesh Karthik has written to the BCCI asking for forgiveness after having been presented by a show-cause notice for violating the cricketing body’s central contract guidelines. Karthik was seen sitting in the Trinbago Knight Riders’ dressing room on Thursday for their first match of the Caribbean Premier League’s latest season.

According to BCCI’s terms for the central contract, one which the wicketkeeper-batsman also hands, no player is allowed to participate in any sporting activity without first receiving a no-objection certificate from the Board.

"At the outset, I wish to state that I have not participated in Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in any capacity," he wrote to the BCCI clarifying his stance, reported Cricbuzz. 

The veteran serves as the captain of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, which is owned by a partnership of Red Chillies Entertainment and the Mehta Group. The CPL outfit is also managed by the same duo of companies and the two also have Brendon McCullum as the head coach in their respective leagues.

"My coming to Trinidad was at the invitation of the newly appointed head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders Mr McCullum, who also happens to be the head coach of TKR. He felt that it will be useful for me as captain of KKR, to come for some discussions with him in regard to KKR," explained Karthik.

Initially supposed to stay until the ninth of September and be in attendance for the first three home games of TKR’s 2019 CPL season, Karthik stated he won’t be following up on that anymore and will be absent from the dressing room in the remaining two games

"I wish to tender my unconditional apology for not seeking permission from BCCI to embarking on this visit. I sincerely request this oversight be excused," he added.
