Karnataka Premier League | Bowling coach and batsman face fixing charges, arrested

With former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly assuming the position of BCCI president, he vowed to work hard and eradicate corruption from Indian cricket and it seems like will have to work hard as a match-fixing scandal has brought into light in the Karnataka Premier League. The police have arrested a bowling coach and a batsman for the same. 

Bengaluru Blasters bowling coach Vinu Prasad and batsman Vishwanathan was arrested by Central Crime Branch (CCB)  on Friday (October 25) for their alleged involvement in match-fixing back in 2018. The coach Prasad of allegedly manipulated a game between Bengaluru Blasters and Belagavi Panthers. According to a tweet by Joint Commissioner of Police (crime), Sandeep Patil, the batsman batted slowly on pre-decided terms.

The tweet goes as follows, "Another match-fixing case unearthed by @CPBlr. CCB in KPL..one team bowling coach and a batsman arrested for dealing with bookies and indulging in fixing..batsman batted slowly on pre-decided terms for a large sum of money..further investigation on."

CCB had arrested Ali Asfak Thara, owner of the Belagavi Panthers, in the first week of October. Later, police arrested Bafna. Another bookie, Sayyam, is still on the run.
