Team India will be led by Rohit Sharma in the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh with the management deciding to rest skipper Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, Kerala’s Sanju Samson and Mumbai’s Shivam Dube, who have been in impressive form in domestic cricket of late, have also received call-ups.

The Indian team management have decided to give skipper Virat Kohli a well-deserved break with Rohit Sharma being named as captain for India’s upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh. Whilst Kohli was also expected to be rested for the T20Is against the Windies in August, the selectors, contrary to reports, picked him to lead the team but this time around, have decided to give the Delhite a break.

Wicket-keeper Sanju Samson, who recently struck a swashbuckling double-century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and all-rounder Shivam Dube, who has been a consistent performer for India ‘A’ over the course of the last few months, have also received call-ups.

Leggie Yuzvendra Chahal, who was not a part of the T20I squad against South Africa, has also been called up while Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Washington Sundar, Krunal Pandya and the Chahar brothers have all retained their places.

Another notable absentee from the team is MS Dhoni, who has continued to remain out of action, having last donned the Indian colours in their semi-final defeat against New Zealand in the World Cup. Hardik Pandya, who recently underwent back surgery, also misses out on the tour.

India’s squad for T20I series against Bangladesh: Rohit Sharma(Capt), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant(wk), Washington Sundar, Krunal Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, Deepak Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed, Shivam Dube, Shardul Thakur
