When Yuvraj Singh announced his joining in the Global T20 Canada, it created quite a frenzy, and although the Punjab batsman had a hot and cold season, he came out as the biggest star attraction in the tournament. Now, Abu Dhabi T10 League chairman Shaji Ul Mulk revealed that the tournament will have Yuvraj in their roaster too, having entered the last phase of negotiations.
"Yuvraj Singh is almost there. We hope to make an announcement soon. We are in the final stages of negotiations with him. This season, we are limited by the BCCI's policy of having only retired India players in leagues outside India," Mulk was quoted as saying by The National.
This year, there are eight teams, with three new franchises joining the competition this time including Abu Dhabi. Lahore Qalandars, who signed former Pakistan allrounder Shahid Afridi as their icon player last month, and Bangla Tigers, who picked up 2015 World Cup-winner James Faulkner, are the other two new sides joining the league.
One of the biggest announcement in the league came in the form of acquiring the services of England’s World Cup-winning coach Trevor Bayliss as the coach of the Abu Dhabi franchise in the T10 league, and the same team will also have Moeen Ali as one of their players. Both were part of the setup that won England the World Cup earlier in the summer.
