I will find out what selectors have in mind about MS Dhoni and give my opinion, says Sourav Ganguly

BCCI president-elect Sourav Ganguly has made it clear that he would like to know the national selection committee's plans with regards to MS Dhoni's future and then give his opinion on the matter. The committee will gather to select the team for the T20I series against Bangladesh on 21st.

Since India’s heartbreaking exit from the World Cup in July, Dhoni has been on a sabbatical — but not officially retired — from the game altogether. On the other hand, the national selection committee has made it clear time and again that they intend to move forward with next year’s T20 World Cup in mind. And it seems like that trend will continue when neighbours Bangladesh visit for a three-match T20I series next month.

"I will find out from the selectors when I meet them on October 24. We will find out what the selectors are thinking and then I will put forth my opinion," Ganguly told PTI at Eden Gardens.

Ganguly, the soon-to-be board supremo, also said that he would like to speak to Dhoni and factor in his wishes before making the final call.

"We will have to see what Dhoni wants. I will also speak to him what he wants to do and what he does not want to do. Since I was not in the picture, it may be a case that it's not clear with me as of now. Now I am in a position to find out and then will decide on the way forward,” Ganguly said.

The former India captain will take charge at the AGM on October 23 and meet with the selection committee as they gather on October 24 to finalize the senior team, and India A, B and C teams for the Deodhar Trophy. Ganguly further revealed that he is keen to change BCCI’s stance on playing day-night Test matches once he takes over.

"World Test Championship has day-night Test because Adelaide will host pink-ball Test. I don't think it is the right call to say that World Test Championship wouldn't have day-night Tests," Ganguly added.
