VIDEO | Delhi Capitals squander two run-out opportunities on the same delivery to also concede a run

Cricket is a funny game and never fails from unveiling some comical moments, especially in T20s. In the high-voltage run-chase against Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings openers got involved in a horrible mix-up, but a series of fumble from the fielders allowed them to return unscathed.

Early wickets is the way to go in any format, and it’s no less than a boon in the format of uncertainties – T20. After posting a modest total of 147 in the first innings, Delhi Capitals needed to chip early wickets in order to put any pressure on Chennai Super Kings in the run-chase. Their openers produced one opportunity but the fielders failed to capitalise on it.

On the third delivery of the first over, Du Plessis dabbed the ball towards point for a quick single. Lack of transparent communication between the two saw Watson almost reaching towards Faf, who after a couple of steps ahead stopped mid-way. Axar Patel took a shire at the non-strikers end, but missed it completely, which gave some time to both the batsmen, but a horrible mix-up once again meant that both were running at the same end. Munro collected the ball with ease and had all the time in the world to run Du PLessis out at the striker’s end. But a shocking throw only gave the South African a new life.

With a golden opportunity squandered, all DC could do was rue about it, but the fans certainly enjoyed this comedy of errors from both the sides. This incident would simply make it to the list of all-time best moments of the IPL ever produced.
