Brief Scores: Karnataka 275 & 239 (Shreyas Gopal 61, Mayank Agarwal 46; Dharmendrasinh Jadeja 5-48, Jaydev Unadkat 3-35) lead Saurashtra 235 & 224/3 (Cheteshwar Pujara 108*, Sheldon Jackson 90*; Vinay Kumar 2-48, Abhimanyu Mithun 1-35) by 54 runs.
The Saurashtra cricket team already have one foot in the final at the moment as they require merely 55 runs on the final day of their semi-final encounter against Karnataka in the ongoing Ranji Trophy tournament. The match, which is being played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, saw Karnataka resume play on 237 for 8 and managed to add just two runs to their total before they were bowled out.
With a target of 279 runs on board, made the match an interesting one, especially with the tough on-field conditions. Karnataka pacer, Vinay Kumar put Saurashtra in trouble as he picked up two early wickets in the second innings. However, with Cheteshwar Pujara and Sheldon Jackson still at the crease, Saurashtra were still in the game. The duo were lucky enough to not get dismissed after poor umpiring decisions and went on to put together a 201-run partnership and end the day at 224/3 with just 55 runs required for a win on day five. The win will see Saurashtra battle it out in the final of this year’s Ranji Trophy against defending champions, Vidarbha.
