India vs New Zealand | Martin Guptill set to miss Wellington ODI with back injury

Martin Guptill is in doubt to feature in the fifth and final ODI of the India-New Zealand ODI series due to a sore lower back during the practice session. Guptill will be replaced by Colin Munro who was released to play the Super Smash game for Auckland Aces on Saturday to regain his ODI form.

Guptill has failed to live up to the billing in the series so far with an aggregate score of only 47 runs in the four innings and is set to be replaced by his own opening partner Colin Munro who too had his tough bit of luck in this series. In the first three ODIs that Munro got a chance to play, he could only manage to score 8, 31 and 7 and was left out of the team for the fourth ODI in Hamilton.

"Martin Guptill is in doubt for tomorrow's fifth ODI against India after aggravating his lower back while fielding this afternoon," NZC tweeted. "He's been assessed by team physio Vijay Vallabh & will be reassessed tomorrow morning. Colin Munro will rejoin the ODI squad tomorrow morning."

With Munro’s return to the squad, it will be the third opening pair in five matches as he will partner Henry Nicholls who made a comeback to the national team in the fourth game.
