Former Indian women’s team coach Tushar Arothe has been arrested for his involvement in IPL betting in a cafe in Vadodara. Vadodara’s DCP Crime Branch JS Jadeja has confirmed the news of Arothe’s betting activity with 18 other persons during a raid in that particular cafe in the city.

Last July, with the Women’s World T20 being just five months away, Arothe stepped down as the head coach of the Indian women's team, immediately after the reports of discord within the team had surfaced after their Asia Cup loss. Arothe himself came out and revealed that he had developed a very strained relationship with some of the Indian players, who he said need to step out of their "comfort zone" for a better future of Indian women's cricket.

Now, almost nine months after the resignation, Arothe is back on news for his involvement in an IPL betting scandal in a cafe in his home city -Vadodara. Although no further reports have come out in that regard, it is confirmed that the former Baroda Ranji player is now in police custody.

“We arrested Tushar Arothe along with 18 other persons during a raid at a cafe. Their phones&vehicles have been seized.” JS Jadeja, DCP Crime Branch, Vadodara was quoted as saying by ANI.
