Rahul Dravid becomes fifth Indian to be inducted in ICC Hall of fame

Former Indian skipper and current India U-19 coach, Rahul Dravid was bestowed with the honour of being inducted in the ICC Hall of Fame. Before this induction, only four Indian players - Bishan Singh Bedi, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev and Anil Kumble - had the privilege of boasting themselves on the prestigious list.

Dravid had an exhibiting career as a batsman and was a terrific run-scoring weapon for India. With 13,288 runs, he occupies the fourth rank in the accomplished Test run-scorers and his tenure as the Indian skipper was spectacular where he led India to overseas Test series wins against West Indies and England. Scoring 10,899 runs in the ODIs, he also proved a significant catalyst in India's surge to final in the 2003 World Cup.

Due to his commitments towards the India A team, he couldn't attend the felicitation ceremony. But he expresses that he is certainly obliged and honoured to have been inducted in the prestigious list.

“It is a great honour and privilege to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. I am thankful to the ICC for giving me this honour. It is a privilege to be among a group of people I have looked up to and I have admired as a young man growing up in the journey as a cricketer. I'd love to be able to thank so many people who have made it possible for me o have a career in the sport and to fulfil my dreams. My parents, my family, my two kids, my so many friends, colleagues that I have played with, and played against that enriched my game. My many coaches right from the time I was in school and the coaches I have played for in India have really helped me to develop as a cricketer," said Dravid in his acceptance speech.
