The DRS system has worked for some while it hasn’t for others, and CSK skipper MS Dhoni was part of the first half of players until some of his recent referrals have gone the wrong way. Dhoni’s 50/50 decision in today’s match on the insistence of Deepak Chahar against Rahane came back unsuccessful.

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has been touted as the ‘king of referrals’ while some fans even suggested that the full form of DRS be changed to ‘Dhoni Review system’ instead of ‘Decision Review System’. But the Indian wicket-keeper was proved wrong this time in the match against Rajasthan Royals at the MCA stadium in Pune.

The incident took place in the third over of the second innings when Rajasthan skipper, Ajinkya Rahane at the crease. Deepak Chahar bowled a fast delivery which caught Rahane by surprise and struck him on the pads. The umpire did not seem convinced by Chahar’s appeal, but the bowler seemed pretty confident as he looked towards Dhoni who chose to side with his bowler.

However, in the Dhoni's defense, he did not seem completely convinced by the bowler’s shout but gave young Chahar the benefit of doubt anyway when he chose to utilise the referral available to CSK. The duo were left disappointed though, as the decision made by the umpire turned out to be the right one indeed.

Dhoni and Co. did not have to wait long enough for Rahane’s wicket though as Chahar managed to clean-bowl Rahane in his next over itself.
