IPL 2018 | CSK get massive scare as Dhoni misses practice session

Dhoni’s back problem during his 44 ball 79 knock against KXIP was very much evident and has reportedly come at a cost, as the skipper was nowhere to be seen in the recent practice session. However, the welcoming news for CSK fans was Suresh Raina’s likely return, who was seen at the nets.

CSK hasn’t got the best of fortunes in IPL in their comeback season. After it started with an early injury to Kedar Jadhav, who was ruled out of the season, political tensions saw the side losing the home venus too as Chepauk was prohibited from hosting the games. Their worries hadn’t yet dissolved when they could be facing another serious blow in captain Dhoni’s absence, who was absent in CSK’s latest training session.

CSK without Dhoni have always been incomplete, and MSD showed exactly why that is with his vintage innings that included six fours and five massive sixes last game. However, the 36-year-old hasn’t been the fittest of individuals for some time now and intense performances would be expected to take a toll on his body.

Though the CSK camp was tight-lipped about Dhoni’s fitness and availability according to the Hindu, an injury would most likely see Dhoni getting rested for the game against Rajasthan Royals, given that there are plenty of matches yet to be played. CSK has wicket-keeping replacements in N. Jagadeesan and Ambati Rayudu ready though.

However, all hasn’t been bad for the yellow army. While Dhoni remained a doubt, Suresh Raina was seen training at the nets and in all probability, would be making his return from injury in the upcoming game. CSK would be playing their next game in the make-shift home stadium in Pune, where CSK would have to rework its strategy as the wicket would helping the fast bowlers.
