India vs Australia | Records and numbers from the Nagpur ODI

1 - India have regained the top spot in the ODI rankings and will remain there at least until October 15, when South Africa square off against Bangladesh in the first ODI of the three-match series.

6 - Sharma scored his 14th ODI ton yesterday, in just 94 balls and it was his sixth century against Australia. The century meant that Sharma went past Virat Kohli (5) to stand level with Windies legend Desmond Haynes and only behind Sachin Tendulkar (9).

17 - Yesterday, bowling in his 17th ODI innings, Kedar Jadhav, for the first time, finished his full quota of 10 overs, Before yesterday's match Jadhav had never bowled more than eight overs in a match.

29 - Having scored five sixes in his innings in Nagpur, Sharma also overtook Hardik Pandya as the player with the most ODI sixes in 2017. Sharma has 29 big hits this year, one more than Pandya, despite playing seven matches less than the Baroda youngster.  

42 - Sharma became the fastest Indian to accumulate 2,000 runs in the ODI cricket at home. He was able to get to the figure in just 42 innings overtaking former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly (45) and current Indian captain Virat Kohli (46) to achieve the feat.

83 - Sharma also equalled David Warner by 4000 ODI runs as an opener in 83 ODI innings. But the duo lag behind Hashim Amla who took four lesser innings to reach the milestone.

125 - Sharma's 125 also meant that he now holds the highest score in an ODI in Nagpur by an Indian, beating MS Dhoni's 124 against Sri Lanka eight years ago. However, the record belongs to Australia's George Bailey who scored 156 against India in 2013.

162 - Sharma also became the third fastest Indian batsman to reach 6000 ODI runs, getting to the mark in just 162 innings. Kohli (136) and Ganguly (147) are the only two Indians who have reached the number in lesser innings than him.
