Pakistan's Mohammad Nawaz suspended for two months

The other conditions set by the PCB are that Nawaz should not be found in further breach of the PCB's anti-corruption code and that he should take part in the board's anti-corruption education programs.

Nawaz admitted to his actions in a statement after he was punished, saying, "I have made the mistake of reporting with delay the approach that was made to me. I refused the offer and didn't do anything ethically wrong,” as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.

The anti-corruption proceedings against Nawaz began on May 8 and he requested a meeting with the PCB a week later, where the board asked him to submit a letter with his version of the incidents.

The PCB confirmed the incidents saying, "Nawaz submitted his written statement admitting the charges leveled against him by PCB and appeared for subsequent meetings with PCB on 16th May 2017 to properly explain his case”.

The 23-year old Nawaz has now become the seventh Pakistani player to come under scrutiny from the PCB in the light of the corruption scandal that rocked the second season of the Pakistan Super league in February and March. Mohammad Irfan, too, was earlier suspended for a year for his involvement in the incident.  

Prior to his suspension, Nawaz had played three Tests, nine ODIs and 5 T20Is for Pakistan.
