Rahane sustained a finger injury in the third Test against England, which led to an extended run for Karun Nair in the middle-order. The Karnataka batsman smashed 303 not out in the final England Test in Chennai to stake a claim for a regular spot in the Test squad. But now, it seems that he is going to be one of the very few batsmen to have missed the very next Test after scoring a Triple century.
Speaking about Rahane, Kohli said, “One game doesn't overshadow 2 years of hard work, he is the most solid batsman of our team in the test format,” reported ANI.

Yesterday, coach Anil Kumble had lauded the contribution of Ajinkya Rahane, saying the team hasn’t forgotten his contribution.
Kumble had said, "Ajinkya's performances have been phenomenal across conditions. It is nice that somebody who came in to replace Ajinkya because of the injury in Mumbai, took three or four innings and was able to score a three-hundred. It's nice to have to have that kind of contribution and that kind of ability from the youngsters."
