There was a setback for Australia as Hazelwood was ruled out of the ongoing Bangladesh tour as the pacer suffered a left side injury during the first Test. If the need arises Hazelwood will come out to bat in Australia’s second innings but following that, he will fly back to his country.
Hazelwood succumbed to the injury in the fifth over of Bangladesh's second innings when a side strain forced him to leave the action. Later, it was revealed that the 26-year-old will not play in the second and final Test against Bangladesh on September 4. The injury also ruled him out of the limited over tour of India which will start on September 17.
Hazelwood and Pat Cummins were the two main fast bowlers who were picked for the Bangladesh tour as Australian selectors picked a spin based team. Selectors will announce the replacement on Wednesday. Jackson Bird, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jason Behrendorff, Chris Tremain, Chadd Sayers, and Billy Stanlake have been seen as the players who could potentially replace the injured Hazlewood, with Bird leading the race.
