The incident began after Harbhajan said that the Indian spinners' exploits in the ongoing New Zealand were not that great given the spinning tracks that India have produced. Harbhajan went on to say that he and Anil Kumble would have taken many more wickets if only they had such wickets at their disposal.
Harbhajan was slammed for these comments with ex-Indian spinner Maninder saying, “Harbhajan should enjoy Ashwin's success and be happy about his achievements. Such a comment is in bad taste and “smells of jealousy”.
However, the two appear to have patched up things with Ravichandran Ashwin calling Bhajji his inspiration for taking up spin bowling.
has been an inspiration nd I started bowling off spin only after seeing the 2001 series. This banter going on is unhealthy
— Ashwin Ravichandran (@ashwinravi99)
The off-spinner also went on to place the blame squarely on war-mongers who have managed to create headline by pitting players against each other.
By pitting players against each other we aren't going to gain anything but just a juicy headline.Lets respect ppl and keep the game healthy?
— Ashwin Ravichandran (@ashwinravi99)
Harbhajan Singh responded to the Tamil Nadu spinner's gesture by saying that what he said had been misconstrued.
Dear got nothing against you. For some reasons my words are misconstrued. Wish you nothing but the best ✌️ Keep the flag high! God bless ?
