BCCI has told us the Dharamsala issue will be resolved: PCB

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan has claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reached out to him promising that the issue will be sorted out ahead of time for the World Cup.

"I came to know about this some time ago through the TV channels.

"However, I was called up by the BCCI officials and clearly told that there is nothing to worry as the issues will be resolved. I was promised that the Pakistan team will be provided with the highest level of security when we arrive in India later this month," Khan said, reported ToI.

On being asked if they had a preference of venue in case Dharamsala was out of the reckoning, Khan said, "I would not want to comment on that simply because it will be equivalent to jumping the gun. For the moment, let's wait and see the developments in the coming days.

There is no point making any statements."

Meanwhile, the Ferozshah Kotla stadium in Delhi, which has been in the eye of a storm over the corruption-hit DDCA's ability to host matches here, can breathe a sigh of relief. The DDCA appears to have huffed and puffed its way across the finishing line, although late, in completing the infrastructure projects at the historic venue to reach match fitness.

"We don't deny they have completed the work as we had supervised the progress every day. They have completed the changes. However, we haven't received the drawings approved by their architect," said a senior official in SDMC's engineering department, reported ToI.

DDCA President Chetan Chauhan was optimistic when he said, "We had finished all work on February 26 itself and have sent a letter to the SDMC informing them of the completion. We are yet to get the occupancy certificate, though. We are hoping to get it in the next three days."
