BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke on Wednesday dismissed all rumours surrounding the appointment of Anil Kumble as coach by saying it was a unanimous decision by the Cricket Advisory Committee. Shirke also revealed that the Board had cleared Laxman's 'conflict-of-interest' issue before the interview.

Although the dramatic hunt for the Indian head coach ended last week, the controversy surrounding the appointment has refused to die down with one controversy after another making the news. On one side, the tussle between former Team Director Ravi Shastri and Cricket Advisory Committee member Sourav Ganguly has reached new heights, while Anil Kumble has been surrounded by rumours about ‘conflict of interest’ issues.

Speaking to the on Wednesday, BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke tried to put all rumours to rest by saying that the decision to appointment Anil Kumble as head coach was unanimous.

"All the four members of our Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) -Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and former BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale - were in favour of Kumble becoming the head coach. So, Ganguly missing the interview, for which he had taken permission, didn't make any difference," Shirke told TOI on Wednesday.

Shirke also revealed that the Board had cleared VVS Laxman’s ‘conflict of interest’ issue with Kumble before the interview began. Media reports had alleged that Laxman was a shareholder in Kumble’s company Tenvic Sports.

"We were concerned about rumours that Laxman was an employee of Tenvic, a player management firm run by Kumble. Laxman gave an undertaking that he was no more a director in Tenvic nor was he a shareholder," Shirke said.
