After a successful campaign in the ICC U-19 World Cup, former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid could be seen in the dugouts of Delhi Daredevils come the Indian Premier League season as a mentor or coach after reports emerged claiming talks in an advanced stage between the cricketer and the franchise.

Delhi Daredevils, who parted company with former coach Gary Kirsten last December, are on the look-out for a replacement and seem to have found one in the form of India A and U-19 coach Rahul Dravid. The former Indian cricketer was associated with the suspended Rajasthan Royals team last year and is not averse to the idea of joining the IPL franchise, according to a report in the.

"Dravid is keen to take up the role of a mentor, but he is reluctant to be full-time coach. He has had a long season starting with the India 'A' team in June and he just got free after the ICC U-19 World Cup, last week. He wants to spend more time with his family as well," a source close to the development told ToI.

As per reports, the only point of contention that remains between the franchise and Dravid is about the amount of time that he will be able to spend with the franchise.

A senior official with the Delhi Daredevils confirmed that they are looking at Dravid as an option for the coach-cum-mentor role and a decision on the matter can be expected in a fortnight’s time.

"Things are at a speculative stage. We have a few other names going around as well. Dravid is definitely one of them. At this point, it's difficult to commit as the owners of the team are not in the country. Once they return, a final call will be taken," a senior Daredevils official told ToI.
