The team was awarded Rs 2 crore by the board after they defeated South Africa 3-0 in a four-match series last year.
"Nothing can happen before the Supreme Court hearing on January 3," an unnamed senior office-bearer told PTI news agency.
The BCCI’s spending power has been greatly reduced after it failed to implement the Lodha panel’s suggestions, and requires the Supreme Court’s clearance to use its own funds.
The apex court has cleared only Rs 58.66 lakh per Test match and Rs 25 lakh per limited-overs match against England to the BCCI for organizational purposes. The board needs to submit a plea to the court if they are to award the team for their Test series win over England.
