Parthiv Patel set to retain his place for 4th Test

Earlier, Chief selector of the Indian cricket team MSK Prasad had said that Wriddhiman Saha will remain India's No.1 wicketkeeper despite Parthiv Patel’s stunning comeback to the team. But it seems like the latter will receive at least one more opportunity.

Wriddhiman Saha, who developed a strain in his left thigh during the second match against England at Visakhapatnam, was rested a precautionary measure in the third Test. However, according to the Bangalore Mirror, the 32-year-old is unlikely to recover in time for the fourth Test in Mumbai, which is scheduled to start from December 8. With Parthiv Patel marking his return to the Test squad after 8 years with innings of 42 and 67 not out at Mohali, the 31-year-old will retain his place in the team in place of Saha.

KL Rahul, who was forced out of team for the third Test due to a last-minute forearm injury, was also expected to return for the fourth Test, but with Parthiv doing well as an opener, the team management is also unlikely to take any risk with the Karnataka batsman if he fails to regain full match fitness.

Meanwhile, Ishant Sharma, who is set to get married on December 9, has also been released from the squad. However, the BCCI is unlikely to call any replacement for him.
